Therapy for Mind, Body and Spirit
Psychodynamic Therapy
is a method for character transformation that recognizes the essential identity of the mind and body.
Psychodynamic Therapy recognizes how "armoring" against the free flow of
life energy blocks full emotional expression. The Psychodynamic therapist works with the principles of psychodynamic
psychotherapy to reveal to the patient\client their character attitudes and their character armoring.
With a functionally deep understanding of the mind body relationship, based on the principles developed by Wilhelm Reich,
the psychotherapist simultaneously analyzes the patient's character ("Character Analysis") as it presents itself through
the ways in which they walk, talk, hold themselves, etc. and the chronic muscular tensions that anchor and support this
behavior. This is done through description, analysis and the release of muscular tension through deep massage.
Transformational Workshops,
three and five-day workshops in the SF Bay area and the Esalen Institute, respectively.
"Transformation through Orgonomic Bio-psychotherapy" the workshops include character analysis and biophysical work on muscular armoring and blocked respiration. Techniques to reduce stress through Psychodynamic
massage, restore natural breathing and the use of creative and expressive arts to reveal inner conflict and strivings are presented in the context of a
dynamic group process.
* CE credits are available for psychologists, nurses, MFTs, LCSWs.
Our Psychodynamic Therapy Training
includes education in the principles of character development, the treatment of chronic personality disorders and stress reduction
through mind-body emotional and biophysical release.
Training in the technique of character analysis involves teaching the student to recognize the ways in which the various character types present themselves, the development of a strategy to deal with the psychological structure in a therapeutic way, and the means by which a diagnosis of character may be made. Students will learn how to facilitate a characteranalytic group process for small groups and larger workshops.
Advanced training for qualified students who have mastered the verbal character analytic technique includes descriptions and experiential work on releasing the muscular armoring, the restoration of natural breathing, and energy activation and release. Preliminary and shorter programs on orgonomic therapy are open to professionals and laymen.
Courses are taught by Psychodynamic Therapists Dr. Patricia R. Frisch, Ph.D., Executive Director of the Orgonomic Institute of Northern California and Dr. Richard A. Blasband, M.D., Adjunct Faculty.
Psychodynamic Training and Supervision is on-going throughout the year and is available in workshop format
at the Esalen Institute and in the Bay Area. Continuing Education Credits are available for psychologists, nurses, MFTs, and LCSWs.
